Mr. Lawrence graduated from Temple University with a Master's degree in Music Therapy in 1995. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Queen's University in Kingston, ON. Professionally, he works as a music therapist in private practice, a position that he has held for the past 11 years. His professional affiliations include membership in the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT) and the Music Therapy Association for Music Therapy (MTAA), which he serves as President.

Mr. Lawrence's professional history includes many conference and organizational presentations, work with various Alberta organizations for persons with disabilities (i.e. CNIB, Music Alberta, Society for Advanced and Gifted Education (SAGE)) and teaching a number of introductory music therapy courses. Most recently, he was one of four employees nominated in the Innovative Programs category of employee awards through Capital Healthcare. Current projects include a survey of Canadian music therapy training programs' use of the Internet and electronic resources, as well as editing a book on Music Therapy with Veterans, in post- and existing military conflict.
